Swimming, Swimming In the Swimming Pool

I finally got around to taking Quinn swimming yesterday. I honestly don't know why it has taken me this long, but I really wish I hadn't waited. He loved it. Even though the water was cold, he loved floating in the pool and splashing in the hot tub. I'll definitely be taking him a few more times before it gets too cold.

On a different note, Ross had to leave today to go to Lousiana and Texas. He will be working with his dad doing some roofing. Hopefully he won't be gone as long as his dad thinks, but we'll see. Quinn and I will miss him very much, we already do.

7 Months Old!

My baby is 7 months old today...only 5 months until he is 1. Crazy. I look at newborn and 0-3 size stuff in the stores and they look so tiny now. He is finally wearing 6-9 month clothing, he's so skinny and long, its hard to find stuff that fits. But we're making it work!

Here are some pictures from this week...I gave him a sippy cup today for the first time. I don't think he quite got it, but he had fun with the cup! Oh, and a lovely picture in his daddy's glasses!

The Week in Quinn

This week has been a busy/interesting one, that's for sure. Quinn was still getting over his ear infections at the beginning of the week, and of course, Mommy came down with a fever and other junk on Sunday night. I was feeling much better by Tuesday, but still had a sore throat until today. Tuesday we went to Lakeland to have lunch with my old work friends and Quinn's future girlfriend, my friend Carrie's one month old, Camryn. She is a tiny little baby ball, I can barely remember Quinn being that small (and no, I'm in no hurry to have another). Quinn had green beans for the first time, and as you can see above, he was quite unsure as to what he thought. I'm still not sure if he likes them or not.
Here is Quinn playing with his Learning Puppy, which Nana got him last Christmas. Yes, 2 months before he was born. He is really starting to enjoy it.
This expression makes me a little nervous...I can almost see the teenage Quinn in those eyes. And the spiky hair is fun too!

Quinn has loved to stand since he was really little. Today Ross propped him up against the playmat arch and he stood there for quite some time, even letting go with one hand at one point. He still doesn't have real crawling down yet, but as soon as he does, yikes, I'm scared to think about it!

Quinn's First Ear Infection

Wow, no fun. Quinn spiked a fever on Wednesday night and was diagnosed with a double ear infection on Thursday morning. While I think he is feeling somewhat better, he is still going through some cranky spells and having trouble sleeping. I feel so bad, as I'm doing what I can to help him, but there is only so much I can do. On top of that he has a spot of eczema on his foot and his whole body has broken out in red spots, which the Dr said today is from the virus causing the ear infection. Suffice it to say I'll be quite glad when this is over.

Quinn the Yoga Master

As you can see, Quinn has some interesting new moves he's been perfecting. For the last couple of days he does this whenever he is on the floor. He's not crawling yet, at least not the typical way. I think it won't be long after he crawls that he's standing. Yikes!!

Quinn's First Football Party

Ever since I started dating Ross, our Sundays from September-January have been spent at someone's house (usually Jenni&Rob or JennStar&Mark) watching football. Today marked Quinn's first football party. It didn't go as well as I had hoped, but could have been much worse. He didn't nap well, but I'm sure he'll adjust. He has to, he has many many more of these in his future! I finally got him to sleep for a little while on Jenni&Rob's bed...

So that is how he spent some of his time at the party. He didn't miss much...the Bucs lost. We'll keep our fingers crossed for next week!

Carrots and other such randomness...

Quinn has now moved on to carrots, which he really likes. Not quite as much as oatmeal, but almost. He opens his mouth readily for them, which he didn't really do with sweet potatoes, at least not as much. Here is a picture of him after his carrot/rice cereal dinner tonight.
This morning he was playing on the floor before getting his oatmeal and I got up to go to the bathroom. When I left the room he was positioned perpendicular to the swing and a little to the left of it. This is how I found him when I came back...

I really have no clue how he managed that one.

Quinn went to his first birthday party today, for my friend Carrie's son Keaton, who turns 3 tomorrow. Quinn slept through part of it, but seemed to enjoy looking around and watching all the big kids have fun. We have another birthday party on Wednesday, oddly enough for a 3 year old boy, so it is like party week around here! Happy Birthday Keaton and Matthew!!

As a closer this evening, here is a fabu picture of Quinn's awesome parents...enjoy!

Sweet Potatoes, Labor Day, and more...

Quinn has had a few big days recently. He had sweet potatoes for the first time on Sunday and we had a great Labor Day at our friends Elisa and Kevin's house in Orlando (ok, I know those events aren't all that big, but when you're 6 months old, everything is big). He is still so close to crawling, just not quite there yet.

His very first bite...not liking it too much. He wasn't in the best mood when we gave it to him though. Hmmm, doesn't quite know what to think. He does like it now.
Here he is on Labor Day, in his adorable Ralph Lauren outfit from my friend Dana. Isn't he adorable?Quinn didn't take a good second nap today, so when he fell asleep while eating, I just let him sleep. He stayed like this on my lap for 1 1/2 hours!
