Quinn's Favorite New Toy and More!

For Quinn's birthday he got a Radio Flyer Retro Rocket ride-on toy from Jack and Henry (and Uncle Mark and Aunt Jenn too). It has proven to be his favorite birthday gift! He pushes it all around the house and takes it with him wherever he goes. Recently he figured out how to make it go while sitting on it, which is really cute. On the hardwood he can get it going pretty fast. He does still get mixed up in the right direction to sit, as you can see in the pictures below, but when he gets it right, he's off, well, like a rocket!
The other day Quinn was sitting on the couch having his before bed milk and the remotes were sitting kind of close to him. He reached over and grabbed them and he ended up like this...he is a true man!
Quinn often wakes up from his naps with a very sweaty head. I snuck in to look at him yesterday morning and had to snap this picture. No wonder his head gets hot!

13 Months!

So I debated whether to continue the monthly pictures after he turned 1 year, but I decided to keep going since he is going to change so much over the next year. I think I'll keep going until he's 2. And maybe beyond...maybe I'll have him hold up a sign when he's 5 1/2 saying 66 months!! I tried to have him hold the sign for himself this month, and well, I guess it worked!
Below is a picture I took the other day that for some reason I just like. Maybe because it shows off his beautiful blue eyes, or maybe just because I like most pictures of my handsome boy!

The Q-Hawk!

I just thought this picture was funny, so I had to add it. Sometimes I have fun with his hair in the bathtub!

He does have a little boo-boo by his eye, as you can see in the picture. This walking thing is more dangerous than I thought! He was taking a few steps towards Daddy on the couch, fell, twisted his whole body around and bumped his head. He was quite upset for a little while, but he made it through. Just another boo-boo in a whole line, I'm sure.

Our mini-mini vacation!

Today Quinn and I drove about 2.5 hours south to Estero, FL to see an old friend of mine from high school, Sarah (Varness) Schwab! We had a great time at the park and in the hot tub and just hanging out. It was great to meet her 2 boys, Micah and Jonah, and her husband, Chris. They live in Cleveland, so we don't see them often, but hopefully we'll be able to see them again soon!
Micah and Quinn are musical geniuses. They suddenly have become interested in something else!Quinn had fun floating in the Baby Ring.Sarah and MicahQuinn liked all his new friends!Wasn't it yesterday we met at MCHS for our awesome 8th grade algebra class? Now we have kids...crazy.Woo-Hoo MCHS class of 1997! We still look 18, right?

Our St. Patrick's Day Activities

This year we went to a local Irish pub that Ross and I used to frequent in our pre-Quinn days called Fox and Hounds. It has gotten a new owner in the past year or so and it has changed quite a bit, but it is still nice to visit occasionally. Quinn came with us and he seemed to enjoy himself, especially the music. There were other kids there too, so it wasn't like we were the only crazies who brought their kid. And for what its worth, we got there at about 6:40 and Quinn and I were leaving by about 7:55. Hope you all had a great St. Patrick's Day!
Me and Quinn!
"Aunt" Joy was very happy to accompany Quinn on his St. Patrick's Day adventure. He looks like he's having a pretty good time, right? His shirt says Kiss Me, so I just had to!
We're so cute!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

This is Quinn's 1st 2nd "holiday", if that makes sense. He hasn't been cooperative about taking a picture today, so this is the best I got. And for some comparison and cuteness, here is Quinn on his 1st St. Patrick's Day.

A trip to the park

Last night after dinner we took Quinn to a small local park. We weren't there long, but Quinn had fun crawling, sliding, and swinging! And we got to see the Space Shuttle Discovery shoot through the air towards space. Quinn was mesmerized and kept pointing at it. Maybe we have a future astronaut on out hands!

Some random Quinn pictures

Not much exciting going on right now, so I thought I would post some recent pictures of the goings-on in Quinn's life. At least he seems to be enjoying himself...most of the time.
Ok, so he's not having the best time here...I do not remember why he was being so fussy that day, but even then he's still cute.Static electricity is the newest rage in hairstyling!I just love those 2 front teeth!I made spaghetti for dinner last night and Quinn had some. He really seemed to like it. I was quite amused listening to him slurp noodles!

Quinn wears pink!

I spend some time on the message boards on The Nest Baby (ok, the name is actually now thebump.com, but I think that name is so dumb). It is a website for Moms (and some dads) with info on everything from conception to toddler temper tantrums and beyond. There are many different message boards pertaining to certain topics. Most people stick to 1-2 different boards that they frequent.

Recently, a story circulated to pretty much the entire website that originated on a board I, for obvious reason, do not go on, the Multiples board. A woman named Brook had had identical twin daughters in August, named Sydney and Carynne. In January they were diagnosed with Werdnig-Hoffman disease, also known as Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1. While there is a lot that goes into it, from what I understand, the muscles aren't strong enough to support the rest of the body. There are many problems that stem from this, the biggest being the difficulty/inability to breathe and keep the heart beating. Prognosis is rarely good.

Sadly, both Sydney and Carynne passed away in February, within days of each other. As a mother, I cannot even begin to fathom the heartbreak Brook is going through, nor would I ever want to. I wouldn't wish that on anybody. I don't know Brook, but she is in my prayers often. Today on The Nest it was asked that all the other babies wear pink in honor of Sydney and Carynne. So, here is Quinn, in the most pink he owns!

Quinn's Party

Quinn's party was Saturday and while it got off to a slightly rocky start, it ended up pretty good. Here are some pictures from the day.
The main cake, it was beautiful and delicious.Isn't this a great picture of Quinn? He had a lot of fun that day.My sister, myself, and my momBlowing out Quinn's candlesI think cake is a hit! They were all hoping he would look away for a moment so they could steal some!I think he went into a cake coma at this point.
Here he is opening a present the next morning. It got too late the night of the actual party for him to open them. Actually, he opened one and then I opened all the gift bags after he went to bed. I left this one from Aunt Bridget and Uncle James for him. This is the day after his birthday, opening a present from Great-Grandma.

Overall, Quinn had a great 1st birthday. I can't believe he is that big already. It seems like just yesterday he looked like this...
Now he's so independent, working on walking, eating big people food, talking, not very babyish at all. While I do miss the itty-bitty Quinn, I'm so excited to see all the changes and get to know his personality. He'll be a teenager before I know it. Yikes!
