What is Quinn up to?

Its kind of hard to blog when there are no pictures to add, as I know his cute face is much better than my ramblings. But I got an idea from my friend Kate's blog and decided to just write a little bit about what Quinn is up to these days, partially for any readers to enjoy, and partially to help me remember.

1. Quinn is talking a lot these days. He's definitely picking up words quickly, often adding multiple words a day. He is also saying some short sentences, like "There it is" and Come on Mama." His current favorite words are "mine" and "again", the former of which can be a little annoying. Everything he sees is "mine". "Again" comes into play more when he wants me to read him the same book over...and over...and over.

2. He goes through fruit obsessions, where he wants one particular fruit day in and day out, and then wants nothing to do with it for quite a while. His current love is apples and he wants to eat them whole and by himself. He is definitely my son though, as he loves Granny Smith apples, just like me!

3. We got him a fold out Mickey Mouse chair with some birthday money and ever since we got it, he wants to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse all the time. We only have 3 shows in his current rotation (MMC, Yo Gabba Gabba, and Sesame Street), so we go through a lot of Mickey!

4. He is trying at all times to be very independent. He wants to go down stairs by himself, get himself in and out of the car, and he only wants to get out of his crib when he asks me to. One day he pushed me away because he wasn't ready to quit playing with the toys in his bed (and he's a crib hoarder, so there are a lot of toys).

5. Disciplining is going...ok. He listens about 50% of the time, but hey, he's 2, what more can I ask, right? The funny thing is, when I pick him up from the play area at the Y or the nursery at church, he always picks up all the toys he was playing with and puts them away, without anyone asking him to. But at home you'd think it was a death sentence for him to put anything away. Weirdo.

6. He is currently wearing 24 month clothes and a size 7 shoe. At last check he was 28.5 pounds. Carrying him is getting a little difficult.

So that's Quinn for now. All this will probably change in a day or so, so I'll have to more to update when it does!

Wish List Wednesday

One blog I check out from time to time does Wish List Wednesday. As the name suggests, every Wednesday you write a list of things you are wishing for. I decided to do it today, since my birthday is coming and I'm sure so many people are wondering what to get me.

1. A new camera - this is a recent wish. My just stopped working the other day. The shutter won't press anymore. I got this camera for myself on my birthday in 2007, so its not even that old. I had to buy a disposable camera at Target the other day. Boo. I really hope I can get a new one soon! Below is the one I'm kind of looking at. I really want to get a DSLR one day, but I think that's a long way off

2. An iPod Touch - I used to live and die by my iPod. I loved that thing. Well, it kicked the bucket over a year ago and I have yet to be able to replace it. The Touch would be so helpful to me, as I could finally have my music/books/podcasts with me, plus all the awesome apps that are out there. Q could play games, I could get directions, etc. This used to be #1, but I do think I need a camera more.
That's it for me for now. There is a bunch of stuff I would love for Quinn, but hey, he's already had a birthday this year! These are just the material wishes, the true #1 would be to move, but who knows when that will happen. I would also love an actual vacation and a new car for both me and Ross, but again, who knows when that will happen. So, if I just focus on the small stuff, then at least I'll have something to be excited about when that happens!!

Easter/Quinn's first movie

So now not only can I not add pictures to the computer, but my camera isn't working. The button won't push. I guess the shutter is broken, I don't know. This sucks. Technology is just messing with me. And I really don't want to not take pictures of Quinn. Hope I can figure it out/get a new one quickly.

Quinn had a great Easter, at least I think he did. He opened his basket after his nap and loved the new toy truck/phone that my mom sent him. He especially loved the candy. That kid has quite the sweet tooth. We ate dinner a bit early tonight, so afterwards I was trying to figure out what to do. The weather is beautiful, but the mosquitos have come out in full force and they love Quinn. Maybe it has to do with the sweet tooth. Anyway, we played in his room for a while and then I decided it was time to see if Quinn was ready for a movie. I love movies and I so hope Quinn does too. So I put Cars in the DVD player and we were off. He paid attention to most of it and seemed to like it and interact with it pretty well. He was eating some Easter candy throughout and at the end, was getting a little hyper, dancing and running around to the music. I was pleased with his attitude and ability to actually pay attention. I do not think he is ready for the theater yet (I can't wait for that day), but its nice to know I can start sharing something I love more with my son.

Happy Easter all!
