A little late but...

Quinn is 19 months old!! He just keeps getting older, doesn't he? Like I've said before, we haven't been doing anything too interesting lately, but here are some of the things he can do:

Find the following body parts: nose, eyes, ears, hair, teeth, tongue, mouth, fingers, hands, arms, elbow, shoulder, knee, toes, feet, butt (we are particularly proud of that last one)

He has an excellent receptive vocab and can follow most simple commands, even though he often chooses not too!

He can identify Elmo and Big Bird, although he calls them Melmo and Bird

He knows what sounds a sheep, cow, dog, cat, snake, lion, pig, and monkey make, and we're working on adding more

He is getting more verbal, although he is still not using his words all the time. He says Hi and Bye Bye and calls us Mama and Dada, and he knows some of the names of the dogs here...Ozzie, Emme (Memme), and Duke (Du), and he can often repeats words, but he doesn't always use them again. But we are working on it every day!

Here is a picture of my 1 year, 7 month old boy...as you can see, he's obviously got better things to do!

Last Thursday Ross had a job get cancelled, so he stopped off at the dentist and got a wisdom tooth pulled. Random, you say? Very, but that's how he is. At least his dentist wasn't too busy!

Lack of Updates

I haven't updated in a while, but only because I really haven't had anything to update. Since we got back from TN, we really haven't been doing much. I've hardly even used my camera. I have been having car problems, so that has been keeping us home a lot. Quinn and I have had a couple playdates with our new friends Tasha and her son, Beckett. Here is a picture of them!

Beckett and Quinn have some very similar features and besides their eye color, they look a lot alike. We have had a lot of fun spending time with them and are looking forward to more fun stuff in the future!

A Trip to the Aquarium and a Quick Vacation

Last Saturday Quinn and I were lucky enough to go to the Florida Aquarium for a birthday party. Ross wanted to come, but was unable due to work. We went a little early so we could walk around. It was super busy and not the easiest to navigate, but it is a very nice aquarium and hopefully I'll be able to take Quinn back soon. Since it was only me I couldn't let him out of the stroller or he would have been gone in a flash.

Here he is looking at some fish.

The birthday party was held in the Explore-a-Shore part of the aquarium, which is a huge splash pad. Quinn had fun and just kept trying to keep up with the big kids.
Here he is getting a hand from the birthday boy, Keaton.

I think he was asleep before I got out of the parking lot.
That night we were finally able to go visit my family in Tennessee. It was a last minute, quick trip, but it was a lot of fun and I know Quinn loved seeing his Nana, Grandpa, Great Grandma, and Aunt Meredith!

Quinn and Daddy enjoying a lovely dinner at Five Guys.

We had lunch on Labor Day at Creekside, the retirement community where my Grandma lives. All the people there loved seeing Quinn, and I'm pretty sure he felt the same.

Nana and Quinn had fun in the pool.

Quinn and his favorite women!
Thank you mom and dad for making our quick trip such a great time!

Things Quinn is doing

Quinn and I have been trying to keep busy, which isn't too hard, although the endless heat and lack of working vehicle have put a dent in some plans. But here are some things that have been keeping us busy as of late.

We went back to the sprayground and met some friends. Here is Quinn and Joey playing in the water.

Here is Quinn making sure he looks beautiful!

Quinn decided he is big enough to drink out of mommy's cup. He was doing ok...
with just a few spills. Well, right after this picture was taken, he pretty much dumped the entire cup down the front of himself. Fun stuff.
I posted before about the new addition to the Chadwell family, Kellen Luke. Well, here is his with his beautiful mommy, Anne Marie. I got to see him on Monday and he is so sweet and precious. He is a wonderful addition to the family!

Stats!

I forgot to put Quinn's stats in my post from the 25th. He's still carrying on his skinny streak, and now he's up to 23lbs10.5oz, which puts him in the 13th percentile for his age. Above 10th is great! He's 33.5 inches tall, which puts him in the 79th percentile for height.

On another happy note, congratulations to Anne Marie and Steven on the birth of their son, Kellen Luke. He was born on 8/26 at 7:35pm, weighing 8lbs9oz. He has a lot of dark hair and looks a lot like his daddy. We can't wait to meet him!

We are now closer to 2...

...than 1. My goodness. You really can't repeat it enough. Time does fly. And where does it go and is there anyway to get it back? If anyone can answer that for me, it would be very helpful.

So Quinn is 18 months old today, and what a day it has been. It started off with a torturous doctor appointment, more torturous for me than him, as he wailed and flailed and was fairly miserable, even though it was just a simple check-up, no shots or anything. Than I had to run some errands, which were overall ok, until the end when I was trying to get a new cell phone and he decided to flip out and become Chucky in the T-Mobile store. Nice.

I got home and put him down for a nap, knowing I still had to go to the post office and the bank. I have a somewhat leisurely afternoon, until 3:50 when Quinn wakes up and I then suddenly realize the post office closes at 4, not 4:30 like I was thinking. I have never changed his diaper and gotten him into the car so quickly. We made it though, just barely. Thank goodness some post office employees must be satisfied with their jobs. He did start pitching another fit at the bank, but we were quickly out of there and on to home and some lovely picture taking!

At least he looks happy in the picture!

As some of you who read this may know, my friend Joy is in Cambodia until the 30th, working at a home for women who have been rescued from prostitution. She is very passionate about the plight of these women, and is doing wonderful things while she is there. But we do miss her, so here is Quinn with a message for her.

We are praying for you Joy!

2nd Beach Trip

I was able to take Quinn to the beach last weekend for a couple of days. He had a great time! The first evening we went to walk by the water and he just threw himself in, fully clothed. He was soaking wet by the time we were done, but he loved it. The next day we went to the beach in the afternoon and he loved digging in the sand and running in and out of the surf. It was a lot of exercise chasing him around! The last day we went to the beach in the morning and he played in the water for a while, then sat in the fluffy sand under the umbrella and played...that part was awesome! Here are some pictures of our all too short trip.

Contemplating life.

He loves the beach!
